Position Summary

Uniting Communities, Streetlink Services has an exciting Part Time Medical Practitioner (GP) role based in the Adelaide CBD working 28 hours per fortnight.

 

Streetlink is a free and confidential youth health service that provides a safe place for young people aged 12 to 25, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, to seek information and support, connection to services, or just chat with someone who cares. Our team prides itself on high quality service delivery, maximizing accessibility to young people who are marginalized and socially isolated.

 

This role will take the lead in engaging with young people who do not feel comfortable going to a regular GP clinic, but come to Streetlink with a range of medical and psychosocial issues. The GP works closely with our nurse and drug and alcohol counsellors to provide a holistic, intensive service to each individual young person. This clinic is small is size, with our GP taking on responsibilities for the nursing staff and is the lead for the medical clinic itself. You will have the opportunity to engage in a dynamic, challenging and fast-paced role where no two days are the same.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • providing comprehensive GP services to the client group and their children
  • providing medical treatment and referrals
  • finalising medication orders, prescribing medication and management of on site pharmaceuticals
  • assisting in the provision of health education programmes and strategies to engage vulnerable young people in health care
  • maintaining client medical records via practice software
  • contributing to the development and maintenance of the medical program and its procedures

About you:

  • Vocational Registration as a General Practitioner in Australia (mandatory)
    Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • 19AB/DWS exemption possible due to client group
  • Professional experience in the delivery of GP Services
  • Experience working with young adults, adolescents and children
  • Experience in ante and post-natal care
  • Experience in responding to mental health, sexual health and substance use presentations
  • A Medicare Provider Number for the site

Dependent on experience and/or qualification(s) the salary range is up to $167,000 per annum (pro rata part time).
